Embedded FPGA Routing

Work in progress. More details to come.
Embedded FPGAs (eFPGAs) put a reconfigurable fabric directly inside an SoC, so part of a chip can be reprogrammed after fabrication. Most of an FPGA’s area and delay goes to its routing: the wires, switch boxes, and connection boxes that link logic blocks together.
This ongoing project with Prof. Ken Mai explores heterogeneous eFPGA architectures and routing fabric configurations, looking for interconnect that spends less area and delay for the same routability.
